Pregnancy is a woman’s most glorious state. It is the moment where the mother-to-be and her unborn child share the deepest connection; including the beginning of that child's journey toward his or her health. As Alexandra Orozco mentions in her book, "Mommy, I don't want to be obese!" - Mothers have to take healthy decisions to leave their future child with the best legacy: their health (Orozco, 2014). Nutrition is sometimes neglected during pregnancy and indulging takes precedence, but mothers should make the sacrifice and avoid the temptations. The food she selects during the gestation months will consequently transfer to her child and a result, allow or prevent chronic conditions, allergies, and even death. In order to guarantee a successful healthy journey, a conscious mother should take into consideration eating vegetables and fruits, drinking lots of water, vitamins, staying active by practicing light exercises, and of course, rest.
The best way to have a risk-free pregnancy is to consume foods that will provide a balanced diet. "Dairy products, especially yogurt, are a great choice for pregnant women. They help you meet increased protein and calcium needs. Probiotics may also help reduce the risk of complications. In addition to dairy, legumes are great sources of folate, fiber and many other nutrients. Folate is a very important nutrient during pregnancy and may reduce the risk of some birth defects and diseases"(Healthline.com). Mothers worry about how healthy her child will be aesthetically but are not aware of the most important beauty, to be wholesome.
We live in a heterogeneous environment which sometimes leaves us to make automatic decisions. Therefore, institutions and organizations are left with the task of educating and completing the cycle. We cannot assume that every pregnant woman knows how to properly handle the life while in the wound. Society's role is to provide enough tools to educate expectant mothers during the crucial months that will guarantee a long life for this unknown human.
